This flagstone floor cleaning project was part of a recent renovation at an old church just outside
Carmarthen. During renovation works, the floor got covered in builders dust, cement & plaster.
We were called in to see if we could remove this and seal the floor.
After speaking to the owners on the phone, we arranged a time for me to come and take a
closer look. I surveyed the floor and conducted a test patch to work out the best method to
restore the floor. A date was then arranged to come back to complete the works
On the day of the clean, i begun by scraping away the plaster and cement. The floor was then
'flooded' with a specialised cleaner and deep cleaned with a rotary machine. The flagstone floor
was then left to dry out overnight, ready for sealing the next day.
The following morning, the floor was tested with a damp meter to ensure the tiles had dried out
sufficiently. The floor was then sealed with 1 coat of and impregnator seal to fill the pores of the
tiles and then finished with a couple of coats of a satin wax. The wax enhanced the colour of the
tiles, leaving a nice sheen. The wax will also make the flagstone floor much easier to maintain.
