We were called to provide a quote for a slate floor cleaning & sealing job in Narberth, Pembrokeshire. The slate floor was originally sealed around 15 years ago but had now deteriorated with dirt getting trapped within the old seal.
During the quote visit, we surveyed the floor and conducted a small test patch to show the client how it would look and to also work out the best method to complete the slate floor restoration.
After sending over a quote which was accepted, A date was then arranged to come back to complete the slate floor stripping, cleaning & sealing works.
On the first day of the restoration, we began by masking up the area and opening the windows for ventilation due to the strength of chemicals needed to strip away the old seal.
After the old seal had been stripped away we deep cleaned the tiles & grout and then thoroughly rinsed the whole floor, restoring it back to its natural state. The slate floor was then left to dry out overnight, ready for sealing the next day.
The following morning, the floor was tested with a damp meter to ensure the tiles had dried out
sufficiently before sealing. The floor was then sealed with 2 coats of satin wax. The wax enhanced the colour of the slate, leaving a nice sheen. The wax will also make the floor much easier to maintain and can be self maintained.
